Unbroken Earth
(Written in the Style of Against a Loveless World’s Nahr)
I:
Fertile soil, unbroken
Landscape, unperturbed
O how I wish I could be you!
world, unburdened by machina
By the overzealous ambition of man
For who is he to put a price to beauty?
He, who knows not the toil it takes
Nature’s clock
Fall’s winds
Winter’s snow
Spring’s urgency
Summer’s heat
At last, a lush landscape is born
Only to be withered by the hand of man
Absorbed in his own needs
His own wants
What would become of world,
If left unbroken?
Would it be a
Sight for sore eyes
As man would have it,
Or would it be a testament
To resilience?
Resistance?
Rebirth?
What if, instead of sticking our spears
Into the unbroken Earth
Instead of laying claim to what is not ours,
We took a brush to canvas to capture this beauty?
Would that not be a better use of our desires to
Own, Possess, Prize
The land that itself does not belong to us?
That was not borne of our toil, hard work, or clock?
